CCQLD AGM April 21st 7:30 pm

    Mar.31/2015
Dear CCQLD Members.

If someone would have asked at our last meeting if I thought there would be shovels in the ground in the Quarry Lands by April of 2015, I would have answered in the affirmative.   After all, the City did seem to be in a bit of a hurry when it forced Beach Fairways to close their golf driving range on Victoria Park two years ago.  Alas, the only change in the otherwise vacant land is the height of the weed

Understandably, people have many questions.  Is the Build Toronto plan to construct low rise condominiums in the eastern portion of the lands still a go?  Has it been approved yet by city council?  Are there any changes being proposed to the plan that was last presented to the community?  Has a decision been made on the tenant for the large format retail building where the golf driving range used to be?  And what about GCD’s threat to build 25 storey condominiums towers on the eastern portion of the lands?
We have set April 21st for our Annual General Meeting and as always, we are bringing in experts to answer these questions for you.  Bill Bryck, the President of Build Toronto will be there to update us on the construction and the plan. Councillor Gary Crawford will also be in attendance to discuss the politics of development and the magnitude of the threat from private developer GCD.

The AGM is also a time to elect a President and a Board and we once again ask all CCQLD members to consider standing for election. We are losing some more board members again this year, including one of our founders, Mark Brender and we are always on the lookout for new blood.

Please make plans to come out, ask questions, get involved and of course renew your membership on April 21st at 7:30 pm at the Birchcliff Bluffs United Church, 33 East Road. (Warden and Kingston Road)

Sincerely,

Tim Weber
President CCQLD
